5 Well Known Facts that Could Make You Age Faster

Everyone wants to look a little younger and I am all for aging gracefully. There is nothing wrong with a few grey hairs and a couple of wrinkles here and there, but there are some habits that people have that will just accelerate the aging process.

Following are a few habits that may make you age faster that you may just want to get rid of ASAP.

Smoking

Smoking has many terrible outcomes attached to it. It is extremely harmful to your health and if it doesn’t kill you first it will certainly make you look well beyond your years.

according to mayoclinic.org

“smoking doesn’t cause wrinkles only on your face. Smoking is also associated with increased wrinkling and skin damage on other parts of your body, including your inner arms. While the skin wrinkles may not be reversible, you can prevent worsening of wrinkling by quitting smoking now.

How does smoking lead to wrinkles? The nicotine in cigarettes causes narrowing of the blood vessels in the outermost layers of your skin. This impairs blood flow to your skin. With less blood flow, your skin doesn’t get as much oxygen and important nutrients, such as vitamin A.

In addition, repeated exposure to the heat from burning cigarettes and the facial expressions you make when smoking — such as pursing your lips when inhaling and squinting your eyes to keep out smoke — may contribute to wrinkles.”

Sun Exposure

We love the sun! it makes us feel good when its out and we need the vitamin D. But getting to much sun exposure can cause premature aging and although when we are younger a good tan can make us look good, we may look a lot older sooner as we age.

According to WebMD,

“Exposure to sun causes most of the wrinkles and age spots on our faces.Sun exposure causes most of the skin changes that we think of as a normal part of aging. Over time, the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) light damages the fibers in the skin called elastin. When these fibers break down, the skin begins to sag, stretch, and lose its ability to go back into place after stretching.

Stress comes in many forms and can age many different parts of the body.
